Marinara sauce is delicious and can be used in a variety of our favourite dishes. Use it over pasta, in lasagne or as a pizza base. We recommend stewing fresh tomatoes for a more vibrant flavour with adding herbs and spices that'll give it an unforgettable taste.

Ingredients
200 g whole peeled tomatoes (fresh or canned)
 1 ½ garlic cloves (pressed)
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
 1 tbsp drinking water
 ½ medium yellow onion
Seasoning / spices
 1 tsp dried oregano
 ½ tsp granulated sea salt
 ½ tsp black pepper
 ½ tsp red chilli flakes
Instructions
1

In a medium large saucepan fry chopped onions and garlic cloves in extra virgin olive oil. Once translucent and fragrant add tomatoes including the juices, oregano, pepper and red pepper flakes.

2

Bring sauce to a simmer over medium heat, keeping it at a steady simmer for about 30 minutes, or until droplets of oil float free of the tomatoes.

3

Remove the pan from the heat and with a hand blender pulse the sauce to thick and course consistency.

4

Finally, add salt to taste. Serve warm over pasta. The marinara sauce can be stored in sealed container and refrigerated for up to 5 days. Freeze it for up to 6 months.
